Summer means it’s time for camp. Have your kids taken a creative writing camp? Creative writing makes writing a lot more fun, and my creative writing summer camps are a wonderful way to play, learn, and practice writing.

I love the flexibility of summer and having very few plans. It’s why I purposely keep my classes short each day. Packed full of games and activities, kids will have plenty of time to write and get creative and still do whatever else they love to do. Me, I’ll be floating in the lake!

Creative Writing Summer Camps 2023

This summer, I’m offering two creative writing summer camps. Both of these camps invite all abilities and styles of writing. They encourage students to focus on their interests and ideas. My camps are also encouraging. I want your kids to leave feeling confident and excited to keep writing.

Create a Magical World

This creative writing summer camp is for kids who enjoy the fantasy genre. Each student will be given a different piece of a fictional map. Then, it will be up to them to create the inhabitants, setting, and challenges their inhabitants face. Along with creating their world, we’ll be playing collaborative writing games to bring our worlds together.

This camp is also great for students who also enjoy drawing.

Held once in June and once in July, we’ll meet on Zoom for 1.5 hours each day. Click on select options to learn more and to register.

Create a Zine

Zine is short for magazine. In this creative writing summer camp, students create a personal magazine. They’ll choose the topic and fill it with different types of writing and art. Each day provides prompts and activities to help inspire their ideas. During class, we’ll also play games and have time to share.

This is a great camp for all types of writers. Students are welcome to write poetry, fiction, non-fiction, or all of the above.

This class meets on Outschool and runs an hour each day. You can register for a session in June or July. Click on Register on Outschool to learn more and sign up.
