Summertime! Let’s grab our journals and see where our ideas take us! Creative writing prompts for summer can help us get started. Choose one or write about anything you want. The sunshine, summer rains, heat, and our summertime adventures can inspire us. The places we want to visit or things we’d like to are great prompts for stories too. Not able to visit the beach this year, no problem. Your imagination can take you there!

Below you’ll find a bunch of creative writing prompts for summer. Choose the one that speaks to you. Some writers like to set a timer and challenge themselves to write for five or ten minutes. Writing outside can fill you with inspiration. Listening to music while you write might be helpful too. I prefer silence when I write. If you’re not sure how you like to write, try a few different settings to see which one lets you get into your writing zone.
