Creative ELA owner, English teacher, creative writer, and homeschooler- Kelly Sage
Hello! If we haven’t met before, I am Kelly, an English Language Arts teacher (20+ years) and homeschooler (12+ years).
I’ve created Creative ELA because I LOVE to teach. I believe a creative approach to learning is the best way to learn, and I know from experience what a gift it is to have high-quality, engaging resources for my homeschoolers that I can afford.
My hope is that Creative ELA classes and resources help your kids learn AND experience reading and writing in a way that offers connection, fun, and the desire to keep learning!
Essentially, Creative ELA’s membership is where I am sharing EVERYTHING I’ve learned and continue to learn as an English teacher and homeschooler.
Creative ELA’s Classroom and Library Membership includes FLEX classes.
You have immediate access to:
All the FLEX classes in my shop, including EIGHT courses from 2023, 10 from 2024, and 10 from 2025. A new flex class is added each month. Here are just a few of the classes available. You can see the entire list here. While some of my flex classes can be purchased individually, most are just for members.

Creative ELA Classroom and Library Members have access to TONS of ELA Resources.
Here’s a peek at everything in the member library as of December 2025. The member library is always growing! Members have access to everything!
Homeschool Pen Pals & Book Clubs
Creative ELA Classroom Members and All Access Members also have access to:
Homeschool Pen Pals– a quarterly pen pal group that includes prompts and activities to connect your kids with other homeschoolers
Monthly Book Clubs– Bookworms (ages 8-11) and Bibliophiles (ages 12-15)
Literary Magazine Staff
Creative ELA Classroom and All Access Members can also join Creativity’s staff! A callout for staff members happens each November. Staff members design the following year’s literary magazine.
Staff create the magazine! I’m the advisor. They handle design, marketing, editing, and have an opportunity to create the magazine’s cover.
All Membership Levels offer 1-1 homeschool support.
You’ll have resources aimed at helping support homeschool students, but I’m also here to help you.
All Membership Levels offer Coupons and Savings

Inclusivity
YES! My classes welcome students from all countries, genders, backgrounds, and beliefs, and I am committed to creating a safe space for all students. All of my materials and class discussions are secular.
Neurodiversity
Students who are neurodiverse will find my resources, classes, and unit studies offer many options and encouragement to help them learn how they learn best. I have decades of experience working with neurodiverse learners. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out.
My child hates reading/writing.
I have taught a lot of kids who hate reading and writing. It’s one of the reasons I use a creative approach. Kids do not typically hate reading and writing per se; they’re struggling because the material does not match their learning style or address their needs. My classes and resources meet kids where they are and help them learn and enjoy learning.
I have multiple children.
Great! They are all welcome to use the materials and join the classes.
I do ask you not to share my materials with other families. Instead, encourage them to join too!
Do you have to be a member to join my classes?
No, most of my classes can be purchased individually. A membership is a great option if you want to take my English Language Arts classes and have access to my resources while saving a lot of money.
Additional Questions
What are your qualifications?
I earned a BA in English and obtained my secondary English teaching license in 2004. I taught English for nine years in middle and high school classrooms. In 2013, I became a certified creative writing facilitator and started leading women’s and youth creative writing circles for Women Writing for (a) Change, Bloomington. In 2017, I started teaching online for Outschool. I currently teach on Curiosity Encouraged, LLC (Creative ELA) and Outschool. You can also find me leading classes for Women Writing for (a) Change, Bloomington, Kindred Explorers, and Cambly. I no longer keep my VA or IN teaching license active since I work nationwide and worldwide. I continue to take professional development classes and keep up with new research and findings.
