Description

Many moons ago, the world of Cela suffered a horrific storm. Created by humans, magic, or nature, we do not know, but the aftermath of the storm left the world literally separated. For centuries, each piece of Cela drifted apart. Too afraid to venture far from their land, the inhabitants only knew their piece of the world. Finally, a great witch (who prefers not to be named) brought the world of Cela back together, but there is much work to do to help the inhabitants co-exist. Cela needs your help!

Come create a magical world of your very own and help reunite the lands of Cela.

In this week-long creative writing summer camp, writers will work independently and with one another to create a magical world.

At the start of the week, each student will create a piece of a map. They will also create the characters and setting for their land. Mid-week, we will work together to create storylines that connect our lands, and by the end of the week, we’ll have our very own magical world!

In each class, we’ll use creative activities and writing to explore elements of fantasy writing, including characterization, setting, conflict, and resolution.

Writers can also use art (on the computer or by hand) to create their visual section of the map. They will work together to write dialogue and short chapters to connect one another’s lands.

At the end of the week, we’ll compile our writing and art into an e-book, and everyone will get a digital copy.
