A memoir is a story we tell about our lives. Memoirs often read like fiction because they are filled with imagery, dialogue, and many of the same components a good short story or novel has. In this class, we’ll learn about memoirs and poetry. Students will brainstorm and begin to write a memoir poem.

This class includes a mini-lesson on memoirs and poetry, brainstorming activities, and time to write.

Class Structure-

In this writing class, students will learn about memoirs and try their hand at writing a memoir poem. We’ll also read two examples of memoir poems and talk about poetic structure. Students will find my classroom is a place to have fun, practice, and not worry about being perfect!
