WELCOME to class! I’m excited to offer this workshop to your family.
Before we begin- In our class, we’re going to talk about all of the things we could write about. This does not mean you have to write about everything on your list. Brainstorming is about gathering ideas. The more we gather, the more we’ll have to choose from.
We’ll also learn about different writing genres and do something called fast writing.
All activities are optional, and while I’ll gently encourage everyone to write, it is absolutely okay to use writing time to think or talk about ideas.
This class isn’t just for kids. Teens, parents, and teachers, you’re welcome to join in, too! In fact, I encourage you to do so. When we write with our kids and students, we can discuss writing, writer to writer. This creates a sense of community and trust. Writing and vulnerability go hand in hand. Putting our ideas onto the page and sharing them is not easy. It takes courage to be a writer! We’ll talk about courage and quieting in inner critic in this class, too!
