One of my daughters and my favorite ways to learn and connect with one another is through games. I especially love games we can play anywhere we are and games that don’t require a lot of setup or supplies. Sometimes we have time to kill, need a break from a complicated lesson, or we just need a little time together. What I’m not great at is thinking up games. Thankfully I don’t have to! Beast Academy Playground has a ton of free math games for kids of all ages. Sophia and I sat down to play a few the other day and had a blast!
Free Math Games Your Kids Will Love
Blind Heist
The first game we played was Blind Heist. All you need to play this game is two pieces of paper, something to write with, and counters. Super simple but a lot of fun, Sophia asked to play this game several times.
We used coins as counters, which worked out well because after we played the original way a few times, Sophia suggested we modify the game and count the amount of money we had in each section.
Troll Hole
Another free math game we loved over at Beast Academy Playground was Troll Hole. This is a game I can see us playing when we’re in the car, at a restaurant, or in a waiting room. All you need is a piece of paper and something to write with. Kids draw a bunch of circles and then you take turns writing the numbers 1-9. The last hole becomes a troll. The troll eats the numbers next to them. What’s left you add up to see who wins. This is a great game to help kids practice addition or modify it and practice multiplication.
Carronade
Sophia’s favorite came is called Carronade. It’s Battleship on paper. Again, this is a great game to play no matter where you are, and kids of all ages will love it! It’s not as easy as it looks and is rather addicting!
There are so many free math games to play at Beast Academy Playground. It’s super simple to find the perfect games for your kids and once you do, the games are easy to set up. No special or expensive supplies are needed. Grab some paper, markers, a deck of cards, counters, and some dice and you’ll be pretty much set. If you don’t have counters on hand, use coins.
We quickly found a number of ways to modify the games and add extra challenges, but playing them just the way they are suggested is a lot of fun too!
