Creative writing is one of the best ways to help students learn and like to write. This creative writing class will not only help build skills but will also build your child’s confidence.

Raise your hand if you have a child who loves to write!! Raise your hand if you have one who would rather have a root canal!!

Some kids love writing, and others do not. Writing is a skill we need regardless of whether we like it or not, though, so helping our kids learn to write is important.

I have taught all types of writers, and I’ve found kids who love writing often have one thing in common; they feel confident, and the haters do not.

The good news is a child’s confidence can shift, and I’ve never met a kid who doesn’t have a story to tell. I’ve created Creative Writing Workshop to meet the needs of all types of writers and help kids learn how to write. While I can’t promise every child will LOVE writing after one of my classes, I can promise during my classes, writing will feel less painful, and it will help kids start to find confidence. We can all be writers. Sometimes we just need a little creative writing magic to help us along.

Each week, students are introduced to new elements of writing, authors, styles, and techniques. This is a hands-on class. I use Nearpod so students can collaborate with one another, play games, watch educational videos, and engage with the texts we are using.

The best part is students learn to write BY writing.

Writers of all abilities are invited to try their hand at a variety of genres and spend time working on developing their style and voice.

Class Structure– We’ll use short, fun exercises to get our pens and minds moving in each class. All activities are aimed at helping writers find ideas, write, and learn about writing. Time will be provided for students to share their writing if they want to. Students will find my classroom is a place to have fun, practice, and not worry about being perfect!

Typical Class Agenda-

– Mini-lesson about Writing
