One of the first big projects I helped supervise when I became a high school teacher (more than 20 years ago!) was the school’s literary magazine. I’ll never forget my students’ thrill at the submissions coming in or how hard they worked putting the magazine together. Each year, a new literary magazine was born thanks to my staff’s creativity and hard work!
Three years later, after a move across the country, I started a literary magazine at a K-12 school. Once again, students submitted art, writing, and photography for my staff to showcase. This time, however, we had students of all ages submitting, and it was so fun to see the variety of creations.

Fast-forward many years, and I once again found myself with classrooms of students. This time online and homeschooled, I wondered if they’d be interested in creating a magazine.
You’ve probably guessed, the answer was a resounding YES!
19 homeschoolers, ages 9-16, quickly volunteered, and so began the process of creating what they would soon call Creativity- a Homeschool Literary Magazine.

We’ve got the magazine’s first cover and a bunch of submissions, but before the deadline to submit closes, we’d LOVE for your homeschooler to share their creativity.
Submission details can be found here!
Deadline to submit is April 15th, 2026.
We hope this will be the first of MANY Homeschool Literary Magazines to come! If you’re seeing this post after the deadline, head to this page to see when our next deadline will be. If your homeschooler would like to be part of the literary magazine staff, you can find information on how they can do so there as well.
