Description
A Double-Entry Journal helps students stop and respond to a text while they are reading. It also helps students select important quotes and generate a related analysis.
Double-Entry Journals can be used to:
– help students focus while reading independently at home
– help students pause while reading a difficult text
– as a differentiated assessment
– to allow teachers to see what each student is getting out of a text
– as prompts for class discussions
– to direct students- ask them to look for quotes that show characteristics for a particular character, quotes that help them infer, quotes that have to do with conflict or setting
This pairs well with the Reader Response Bookmark- also in my store
