The Creative ELA Unit Study | The Journeys We Take asks us to examine the journeys we and others embark on during our lives. Some of the travels we’ll look at explore the past, some imagine what could be, and others will be up to you to create.
In this unit, we’ll read The Turtles of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye. We’ll travel to Oman, learn about the sea turtles that come to Oman’s shores each year, and we’ll explore Naomi Shihab Nye’s poetry.
In our writing, we’ll look at the idea of a journey in the literal and figurative sense. We’ll take journeys to other places, near and far, and we’ll travel inside our hearts and minds.
